Opener

The idea for this blog started when I dropped the soap.

As the bar slid toward the drain I was thinking, “Man, I’m thankful that I’m not in jail.” Continuing that train of thought, I got to thinking that I should make a blog about all the things that I am thankful for. You know, find the good in my life so that I will be more positive and a motivation to others – I think my mother was in my head – and I thought of a bunch of other things to sarcastically be thankful for, but the whole idea was too artificial.

On the other hand, the amount of time I spend thinking (analyzing events or debating myself) and attempting to know (anything) is authentic and occupies just about every waking hour that I have. Rather than having recurring dialogues in-person and in-text with friends, I may as well write and revise my thoughts for infinite publication.

I originally wanted the title of my blog to be “What I Think I Know” but I was too late with my generic attempt at being mind-bending/existential/deep/provocative. So I went ahead and really mixed things up with “What I Know I Think.” The only things I know are what I think and they are all theoretical, absurd or otherwise irrelevant to daily survival.

Last week my professor asked me to write what I knew about the topic I chose for an inquiry project and I found this fancy way around it, “I know it is said a wise man knows what he knows and knows what he does not know, but I am not even wise enough to make a list of what I think I know.”

So my posts will likely be tangential or circumnavigating, but we’ll see.
